TRANSEAL

PRODUCT:          TRANSEAL

Part #: TPF18750

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:  The Transseal TPF sheet film is a “breathable” temporary protective film designed to protect finished paint surfaces without the use of adhesives.  The performance of the TPF film is very similar to that of a skin or membrane, allowing the paint surface or substrate to continue to breathe or outgas while protecting the paint finish from mutilation and/or environmental damage.

To produce the Transseal TPF sheet film the Transseal liquid coating has been applied to a polypropylene carrier sheet creating a “ready to apply” peelable sheet film  This unique universal technology may be used to safely protect 1K, 2K, and waterborne paint systems over sheet metal and automotive plastics.

At application, the TPF film reacts like a “shrink wrap” packaging material easily conforming to component surfaces.  And since the Transseal film is not readily affected by UV light, the film can endure long periods of outdoor exposure.

The TPF sheet film is currently available in widths up to fifty-six inches.  For production line applications, automatic and manual dispensing units are available to dispense, cut to length, and control the carrier sheet.

USES:  Applications would include the protection of painted surfaces on cars, trucks, tractors, bumpers, heavy equipment, metal frame windows, finished wood furniture, boats, cultured marble, polyester/glass shower stalls and plumbing fixtures.  TRANSSEAL® Protective Clear may be used as a masking material to protect surfaces from paint over-spray and as a spray boot coating.

APPLICATION:  Provide a clean surface.  Even though moisture entrapment is not an issue with the TPF film, any foreign particulate matter trapped underneath any film or tape may have the ability to migrate into the clear coat.  Heavy amounts of dust and lint settling onto the paint finish will interfere with the film’s ability to properly seal to the surface.  Any excess amounts of dried polishing compound residues left over from paint finesse operations should also be wiped clean.

Surface Temperature at application:  The TPF film is non-adhesive and needs a peak surface temperature of between approximately 70°F and 90°F to properly cling to the paint finish during application.

Application Method: Dispense a length of Transseal film from the Transseal dispenser large enough to cover the entire panel.  Should it be necessary to combine two or three sections of Transseal film, overlap the film by at least one inch to create a strong seam.  The Transseal film will permanently bond to itself creating one continuous section.

After applying the Transseal film to the paint surface, smooth the TPF film over the paint surface using a Transseal TPF Smoothing Brush, cotton gloves, or cotton towel.  Wrinkles and air bubbles are not a major issue in the compatibility of the film with the paint finish since the film is “breathable:.  However, a smoother film provides better film retention and superior protection from potential paint surface mutilations.

Vehicle Dealer Removal Process:   Film is designed to peel easily from the paint surface at an ambient temperature between 60°F and 90°F.  To remove film from vehicle, place in wash bay or covered area and wet film thoroughly using ordinary tap water from a garden hose or standard manual pressure washer to cool or warm vehicle body for film removal.  Pressure washer may have a pressure range of 1000-2000 psi.  Never use hot water to remove the temporary protective coating.  Peel film back from corner to allow water to penetrate underneath film.  It is most efficient to combine the peeling of the coating off with one hand while directing the pressure water with the other.
